Department Activities

The Department of physics was established in 1964 with a view to impact scientific thoughts among the students in our society. Initially students were admitted for B.Sc.Degree.

On seeing the growing demand in physics and to give an opportunity for the B.Sc. students of our department, M.Sc Physics course was started in 1971. B.Sc. course came under autonomous stream in 1981-82 and M.Sc. in 1995-96.

Active research in the field of Solar Energy and its Utilization, Conducting Polymers, Non-linear Optics, Crystal Growth, Thin Film Technology, Nanotechnology, Molecular Dynamics, Ultrasonics and Material Science is being carried out in the Department. Till date 22 Ph.D and 165 M.Phil Scholars have been produced by the faculty members of our Department. Every year our Faculty Members, Research Scholars, and P.G. Students participate and present papers in National and International Seminars and Conferences, Workshops and symposium. Some of our research scholars and P.G. students got best paper presentation awards.

Many of our physics Alumni are in prominent positions both at National and International level as Scientists, Academicians, Entrepreneurs, Software Engineers, and Teachers. Many of them are working in reputed Indian and Foreign Universities and Research Laboratories.

The management of Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya always motivates, encourages and provides all facilities to the faculty members and the students of the Department.
