SRI RAMAKRISHNA MISSION VIDYALAYA COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCE

The college was started in 1964 with the blessings of Srimat Swami Madhavananda Maharaj and has completed 52 years of purposeful service to the student community and society. The college follows the great ideals placed before the country by Sri Ramakrishna, Swami Vivekananda and Mahatma Gandhi. The institution believes that the greatness of a man is to be judged by his attitude, outlook and devotion rather than by the work he does. The youth of the nation should be trained to develop spiritual strength, intellectual independence and moral character. They must also learn discipline and develop the capacity to work in co-operation with others. The college has adopted the following Mission Statement: The College has a Unique Mission of developing the youth by imparting intellectual training; equipping them with vocational skills so as to make them employable; inculcating in them the right attitudes, values, and moral character; and developing a holistic personality of its students with a balanced development of head, heart and hand. The activities of the college are organized with these ideals and mission in view. During the last few years, the college has seen much improvement in its infrastructure and other facilities. The college in its 34th year of autonomy. It offers graduate programmes in English Literature, Co-operation, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Electronics and Computer Science; Postgraduate courses in Co-operation, Social Work (with Human Resource Management and Community Development as specializations), Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry; M.Phil courses in Tamil, English, Co-operation, Social Work, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science; and Ph.D courses in Tamil, English, Co-operation, Social Work, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Library Science and Physical Education. The college also offers MCA, BCA, B.Sc (Computer Science), B.Sc Information Technology, B.Com, B.Com (CA), B. Com (PA) and *B.Sc Mathematics (Affiliated to Bharathiar University) as unaided programmes, Diploma in Construction and Building Technology, CNC Operation under Community College Scheme, B.Voc Automobiles, Production Technology (Tool & Die), Technology in Electrical and Electronic Devices under DDU- KAUSHAL Kendra Scheme. In addition to the prescribed curriculum the college offers add-on courses as off-calendar instructional practice. It was re-accredited by NAAC with A+ Grade in the year 2023.
