- The B.Ed and M.Ed examinations of Tamilnadu Teachers Education University, Chennai were conducted from 29.05.2017 to 12.06.2017 on the college premises. Around 680 students from eight colleges have attended the examinations.
- Dr. V. Ponnuswamy, HoD of Physics assumed charge as the Principal of the college on 01.06.2017.
- The Department of Chemistry and Research and Faculty Enrichment Council jointly organised a six day short term hands on training programme on “Applications of Computational Techniques in Scientific Research” from 12.06.2017 to 17.06.2017. Four faculty members of Ramakrishna Engineering College, Coimbatore have participated in the programme.
- The Orientation programme for the I Year Aided UG students was conducted on 19.06.2017. Swami Nirmaleshananda, Assistant Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Educational Institutions blessed the students. Rituals were conducted to the first year students by the second and the third year UG student representatives. Dr. V. Ponnuswamy, Principal, explained the rules and regulations of the College. At the end of the programme, the freshers’ were taken around the Vidyalaya institutions to highlight the facilities available.
- The Science Forum organised a Guest Lecture on “Focus give success” for the benefit of II PG students and research scholars of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry on 19.06.2017. Dr. A. Velumani, Creator and Founder, Director of Thyrocare, delivered the Lecture. More than 100 students and research scholars along with the faculty members participated in the meeting.
- As a part of Sister Nivedita’s 150th Birthday celebrations, the Department of Social Work initiated a programme named “Sister Nivedita’s Anna Yojana for Aged”. This programme is designed to provide lunch to the abandoned, Orphaned and diseased old age people. Swami Garishthananda, Secretary and Swami Nirmaleshananda, Assistant Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya inaugurated the programme on 19.06.2017. Food packets were distributed to 50 needy people living in nearby villages of Vidyalaya at their door steps. This scheme will be continued throughout the year except Sundays.
- In view of World Old age people awareness day against atrocities, a Pledge was taken by our staff members on 15.06.2017.
- Admissions for all the PG programmes were held on 23.06.2017 for the academic year 2017 – 18.
- Semi micro qualitative analysis was taught to I B.Sc Chemistry students under Team Teaching method on 27.06.2017.

A one day youth training programme on Youth Empowerment was organised on 01.07.2017 at G.K.D. Auditorium. Dr. A. Velumani, Creator and Founder, Director of Thyrocare and alumnus of our college delivered a special talk on “Youth Empowerment”. The discussion session after the deliberations motivated the students to clarify their doubts. Dr. V. Ponnuswamy, Principal welcomed the gathering. Dr. K. Kandappan, Dean, Students Support Services, proposed the vote of thanks. The first year Under Graduate students of all the Departments and management faculty members attended the programme.
- Six faculty members from PKR College of Arts and Science for Women, Gobichettipalayam visited our college on 03.07.2017 to discuss about knowledge & expertise sharing and students & faculty exchange possibilities between the institutions. They have visited the Physics and Mathematics Departments of aided wing and Computer Science & Commerce Departments of un-aided wing.

Youth Red Cross (YRC) unit of our college organized Blood Identification Camp in collaboration with Lakshmi Clinic Laboratory, Periyanaickenpalayam on 04.07.2017 for first year UG and PG students at Mini Auditorium. A total of 432 students were benefited.

Literary Club of our College organized a talk on “Uyir Valarthen” on 13.07.2017 in the Mini Auditorium. Dr. N. Shunmugom, HoD of Tamil delivered the talk and clarified the doubts raised by the participants. Seventy teaching and non-teaching staff members participated in the programme.
- Weekly Common Prayer was conducted for I and II UG students at GKD Auditorium on 26.07.2017. Swami Sahanananda, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya delivered the talk on “The importance of Common Prayer”.

The PGDCA course, affiliated to Bharathiar University is introduced in our College from this academic year 2017-18 onwards. The inaugural function of the course was held on 24.07.2017 at MCA Lab of our College. Dr. V. Ponnuswamy, Principal, welcomed the gathering. Swami Garishthananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Institutions, inaugurated the course. Dr. R. Murugesu, Head, Dept. of Mathematics, Dr. J. Chandrasekaran, Head, Dept. of Physics and Sri. K. Thirumalaisamy, Head, Dept. of Social Work Highlighted the relevance of the programme. Dr. R. Sridhar, Director, Un-aided wing of our College presented the schedule and the design of the PGDCA course. Sri M. Jaikumar proposed vote of thanks.

The 71st Independence Day was celebrated on 15.08.2017 at Maruthi College of Physical Education grounds and at our college. Swami Garishthananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya hoisted the National Flag and delivered the Independence Day address on the occasion. Our NCC, NSS and Sports students along with other students and staff members participated in the programme. Dr. V. Ponnuswamy, Principal of our college hoisted the National Flag at our college.

A talk on “Thamizh Gnana Sampanthan” was delivered by Dr. R. Gokul, Assistant Professor of Tamil on 17.08.2017 in the Mini Auditorium. The programme was organised by the Literary Club of our college in which seventy teaching and non-teaching staff members participated.

SET/ NET coaching programme for II M. Sc Chemistry students was inaugurated by Swami Garishthananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Institutions on 18.08.2017. Prof. B. Servaramuthu, HoD of Chemistry, Vivekananda College, Tiruvedagam conducted the coaching classes on 18.08.2017 and 19.08.2017 for 10 hours (two days).
- The Department of Mathematics conducted a one day workshop on “Innovation in Learning of Mathematics (Solstice-17)” on 04.08.2017. Swami Garishthananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya inaugurated the function. Dr. R. Sridhar, Director, Un-aided wing delivered the special address. Totally, 367 students from 36 colleges participated in the workshop. The overall champion award was given to Chikkanna Government Arts College, Tirupur.
- The Department of Mathematics of our college and PKR Arts and Science College for Women, Gobichettipalayam jointly organised a National Conference on ‘Pure and Applied Mathematics (NCPAM-2017)’ on 01.08.2017 at PKR Arts and Science College for Women, Gobichettipalayam. Totally, 200 delegates have participated in the conference.
- The Department of Chemistry organized a State Level Intercollegiate Chemistry Students’ Meet – “CHEMFUSION-17” on 17.08.2017. Dr. V. Ponnuswamy, Principal welcomed the gathering. Swami Garishthananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Institutions, delivered Benedictory address. Dr. K. Karunakaran, Principal, Ramakrishna College of Arts & Science, Coimbatore delivered the Special Address and Inaugurated the programme. Totally, 229 students of 15 Colleges and 5 Universities from various districts of Tamilnadu participated in this meet. The overall championships were won by Bharathiar University, Coimbatore and Vellalar College for Women, Erode at Post Graduate and Under Graduate level respectively.

The Department of Cooperation organized a State Level Intercollegiate Meet 2017 – “COOP Connect” on 18.08.2017. Swami Garishthananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Institutions, presided over the function, Dr. V. Ponnuswamy, Principal welcomed the gathering. Mr. S. R. Venkatesan, Joint Registrar/ Managing Director, District Central Cooperative Bank, Coimbatore delivered the Keynote Address. Dr. C. Vellaichamy, Head, Department of Cooperation outlined the Dynamics of the programme. Totally, 322 students from 16 Colleges of various districts participated.
- The Department of Tamil organised a Symposium on “Valamaana Vazhvirkku, Siththargalin Karu Urppaththi Sindhanaigal” as a part of the UGC Minor Research Project sanctioned to Dr. T. Balamurugan, Assistant Professor of Tamil at Mini Auditorium on 22.08.2017. Swami Garishthananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Institutions, Coimbatore delivered the benedictory address. Six resource persons from various parts of Tamilnadu and Kerala participated and shared their ideas with specific case studies. Totally, 66 participants participated in the Symposium.
- An additional Edu-Hub, (Digital Learning Centre) was inaugurated on 11.09.2017 by Swami Atmaghanananda, Adhyaksha, Ramakrishna Math, Kanchipuram in the Library. Swami Garishthananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Institutions, Coimbatore along with monastic members of Vidyalaya graced the occasion and the faculty members of the College (Aided and Un-aided) attended the function. In the Edu-Hub, facilities for preparing teaching modules have been provided and the prepared modules will be uploaded in the Edu-Hub server for students’ access.
- One hundred students of I B.Sc Physics, Chemistry and Electronics attended in the Chicago address Recitation Competitions held at Venkatakrishnan Indoor Stadium on 11.09.2017.
- Weekly Common Prayer was conducted for I, II UG and DDU KAUSHAL Kendra students at GKD Auditorium on 13.09.2017. Swami Harivratananda, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, delivered a talk on “Mahabharatham”.
- Weekly Common Prayer was conducted for III UG and all PG students at GKD Auditorium on 11.10.2017. Sri Ramajothi, delivered a talk on “Dharmam Thalai Kaakkum”.
- The Departments of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Electronics, Computer Science, Tamil and English jointly organized an Exhibition, with the theme of MIRACLE SCIENCE MIRSCI-2017 on 12.10.2017 and 13.10.2017 for creating interest in the basics of science among school students. The exhibition was inaugurated by Swami Punyavratananda, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya on 12.10.2017. Totally, 1373 students from nineteen schools of Coimbatore district visited the exhibition and benefited. Three Exhibits from each department were selected and awarded prizes. Dr. A. Chandramohan, HoD of Chemistry was the convenor of the exhibition and the Department of Chemistry was the coordinating department for conducting the exhibition.
- The Curriculum Development Cell (CDC) of our college has organized a one-day workshop on “Modern Trends in Curriculum Construction” at G.K.D.Auditorium on 23.10.2017. In the Inaugural session Swami Garishthananda Maharaj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Institutions delivered the presidential and benedictory address. Dr N. Muthaiah, Dean, FDMSE of Vivekananda University, delivered a thought- provoking lecture on “Curriculum Transaction Strategies for Higher Education”. In the afternoon session Dr K. Karunakaran, Principal and Secretary of Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore delivered a talk on “Challenges and Opportunities Prevail in Higher Education Institutions”. Totally, 109 faculty members of our college, Maruthi College of Physical Education and FDMSE participated in the workshop.
- NET/SET Coaching class was conducted on 29.10.2017 to I & II PG Students of Physics. Sri Selvakumar, Assistant Professor of Physics, Sri Krishna Engineering College conducted the classes on “Quantum Mechanics” and solved related problems.
- As per the direction of the Joint Director of Collegiate Education, Coimbatore, an awareness campaign on anti corruption was conducted on 31.10.2017. The Secretary, Principal, faculty members and all UG, PG students and Research Scholars took the pledge on “Operation Clean Money Mission” in the morning prayer assembly. Besides, the need of awareness was also discussed in class rooms by the faculty members of respective department.
- Swami Garishthananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya distributed the first three prizes to the students who displayed the exhibits in the Science Exhibition (MIRSCI -17) conducted on 12 and 13, October 2017 in the morning prayer on 31.10.2017.
- The College Committee and Governing Body meetings were conducted on 08.11.2017.

Association Meetings
- The Department of Chemistry conducted an Association meeting on 30.06.2017. Dr. N. Vasimalai, Marie Curie Post-Doctoral Fellow, International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory, Portugal delivered a special talk on “Nanomaterials for Biomedical Applications and Environmental Monitoring”. The I and II M.Sc students of Chemistry & Physics and the faculty members participated in the programme.

The Department of Chemistry conducted an Association meeting on 18.07.2017. Mr. Servaramuthu, Head, Department of Chemistry, Vivekananda College, Thiruvedagam delivered a special address on “Career Opportunities for budding chemists”. More than 100 students and faculty members participated in the programme.

Dr. S. Nakkiran, Associate Professor, Ambo University, Ethiopia delivered a talk on ‘Cooperatives in Africa’ to the students of Cooperation in the association meeting conducted on 16.08.2017. Totally, 164 students of Cooperation participated.

Dr. P. Balraju, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, Coimbatore Institute of Technology, Coimbatore delivered a talk on ‘Recent Developments in Solar Cells’ to the students of Physics in the association meeting conducted on 05.09.2017. Totally, 160 students of Physics participated.
- Dr. S. Sathappan, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science, Erode Arts and Science College, Dr. R. Manickachezian, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science, NGM College, Pollachi visited the Department of Computer Science of our college as commission members for granting increase in intake in research programmes (M.Phil and Ph.D) on 01.09.2017.

- Dr. P. Balraju, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, Coimbatore Institute of Technology, Coimbatore delivered a talk on ‘Recent Developments in Solar Cells’ to the students of Physics in the association meeting conducted on 05.09.2017. Totally, 160 students of Physics participated.
- Sri K. Sugaraja, Assistant Manager, CSR, L&T Ltd, Coimbatore delivered a talk on “Impact of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) in Social Work Practice” in the Social Work association meeting held on 08.09.2017. Totally, 43 students of Social Work participated.
- Dr. K. Kali Raj, an alumnus, Department of Chemistry obtained Ph.D from Yeungnam University, South Korea in the field of Organic Material Synthesis, addressed the PG students of Chemistry and motivated them to pursue Research Abroad on 03.10.2017.
- The Department of Cooperation has conducted the visiting faculty programme on 05.10.2017 and 06.10.2017 for two days. Dr.V.Frank Rathnakumar, Associate Professor/Vice Principal (Rtd.), TBML College, Nagapattinam, who is our visiting faculty handled classes for the final year B.Com Cooperation Students. He taught the topics on cooperative legislation in India, History of cooperative legislation. Besides, he discussed the topics on Group dynamics, group thinking, strategies for improving Team Dynamics and leadership development to the students of M.Com Cooperative Management during his visit.
- Dr. K. Natarajan, Visiting Professor, Department of Chemistry of our college (Former Emeritus Scientist, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore-46) engaged classes for the I M.Sc. Chemistry students on 14.10.2017. He covered the topics; Group, its properties, Group Multiplication Table, Symmetry Elements and Symmetry operations in the core course -Physical Methods in Chemistry-I. Since some of these topics are also included in the curriculum of I M.Sc. Physics, they have also been benefited by attending the class.
- All the departments of both aided and un-aided wing conducted Board of Studies meeting on 28.10.2017.
- Prof. K. Natarajan, Visiting Faculty engaged classes for I M.Sc Chemistry students on 26.10.2017 and 28.10.2017. He covered the topics similarity transformation matrix, Reducible and Irreducible representation, Character Tables, Bonding and Hybridisation in the core course Physical methods chemistry-1.
- Dr. K. Balachandran, Visiting Professor, Department of Mathematics of our college handled classes on “Introduction to Functional Analysis” for the PG students and research scholars on 13.12.2017.
Industrial Visit/ All India Study Tour
- Twenty students of Social Work undertook an all India study tour for nineteen days from 12.09.2017 to 30.09.2017. They visited various organizations like NIRD&P (Hyderabad), TISS (Mumbai), Vishwa Yuva Kendra and ILO (New Delhi). Sri N. Sakthivel and Dr. C. Elancheliyan, Assistant Professors of Social Work accompanied the students.

- The Department of Chemistry has provided free consultancy services to the farmers of Seeliyur, Dhayanur, Tholampalayam and nearby villages of Seeliyur through the NSS of our institution on 26.09.2017. Nearly about 50 Water samples collected from those villages were anlaysed for eighty water quality parameters.
The Department of Chemistry rendered its research consultancy to the research scholars of Chikkanna Govt. Arts College, Tiruppur on 28.10.2017. In this programme, Dr. G. Raja, Assistant Professor of Chemistry conducted hands-on training on Predicting the DNA binding modes with complexes at SRMV ARIC Laboratory in which two Research scholars benefited.

- A workshop on ‘Disaster Management’ was conducted on 03.07.2017 at G.K.D. Auditorium. This workshop imparted the knowledge about natural disasters as well as the ways of rescuing stranded people, and saving one’s own life in disasters. It was demonstrated by Sri. G. Arumugam, Training Officer, National Disaster Management Authority, Southern Regional, India. The first year students of all the programmes of aided, un-aided, B. Voc students and faculty members got benefited out of the workshop.

- The Department of Electronics in collaboration with New Technology, Coimbatore jointly organised a certificate course on ‘Mobile Servicing’ on 05.08.2017. Swami Garishthananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya inaugurated the course. Totally, 94 students have attended the certificate course.
- The Department of Computer Science organised an awareness programme on “Getting Passport” for III B.Sc Computer Science students on 24.08.2017. Mr. M. Chandran, Assistant Professor, Un-aided Wing, demonstrated the online process of filing for passport.
- A One-Day Workshop on Man-Making Education was conducted for all the first year UG students of both aided and un-aided wings on 19.08.2017 at G.K.D Auditorium. Ponnuswamy, Principal welcomed the gathering, The first session was handled by Sri Sachidananda Saraswathi, who delivered an interesting speech on ‘Ancient Science and Medicine’. Dr C. Viswanathan, Department of Tamil, Un-aided wing delivered the second talk on the topic ‘Duty’. In the afternoon awareness video presentations on preservation of trees, water and farming were screened by Dr. R. Gokul, Department of Tamil. Dr. V.R. Arivazhagan, Director, Indian Institute of Yoga and Naturopathy, Coimbatore delivered a motivational and inspiring talk on human values in the last session. Sri S.N. Sharma, Vidyalaya music teacher trained the students to sing our National Anthem perfectly and explained the meaning of the same.
- In commemoration of 125th year of Swami Vivekananda’s historical address delivered in the World Parliament of Religions, Chicago on 11 September 1893, honorable Prime Minister, Government of India, Sri Narendra Modi addressed the student community of our nation, which was live streamed at both aided and un-aided wings of our college on 11.09.2017 to stimulate the students with Swami Vivekananda’s valuable ideas. In his talk the Prime Minister brought out the ways and means given by Swami Vivekananda to build a healthy and harmonious nation.
- Twenty seven students of UG programmes successfully completed the Vocational training programme on Electrician Course conducted at Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Industrial Training Institute from 19.09.2017 to 21.09.2017 (3 days).
- Miss. P.P. Sumi, Ph.D Research Scholar, Department of Electronics successfully completed the Industrial Training at Bharath Petroleum Corporation Ltd, Kochi from 18.09.2017 to 25.09.2017 and submitted the report on the Work Leakage Detection System in transportation pipe lines.

Nandakumar, Ph.D Research Scholar, Department of Electronics presented a talk on “Recent Trends in Bio Medical Instrumentation” in the National Level ICNR Sponsored Seminar on “Recent Advances in Ventricular Assist Devices: a scope for improving cardiatic support” held at PA College, Pollachi on 21.09.2017.
- The Activity Based Learning, an innovative teaching method has been initiated in the Department of Chemistry on 09.10.2017. All the UG and PG students along with a selected group of students of the Department of Physics participated.
- As a part of activity based learning, five students of I MSW who were trained in Street Play staged their performance at the bus stands of Town hall, Ukkadam and Singanallur in association with Don Bosco Anbu Illam, Coimbatore on 11.10.2017. They also extended their performance on “Awareness on girl children and social issues” at Don Bosco Anbu Illam, Coimbatore on 14.10.2017 in commemoration of International Girl Child Day.
- Murugadass, II B.Sc Physics attended the Inter collegiate Debate Competition held at Kumaraguru College of Technology, Coimbatore on 04 and 05.10.2017 and won second prize.
- Eight Students of II B.A. English Literature participated in “LITERARY ZEPHYR 2017” held at Nirmala College for Women, Coimbatore on 04.10.2017 and won first prize in the “Literary Mime” event.
- Santhosh Kannan, II B.Sc Mathematics participated in Creative Writing and won third prize in the inter collegiate cultural fiesta “Anthariksh 2017” held at Nehru College of Aeronautics and Applied Sciences, Coimbatore on 22.09.2017.

- Sri M. Saravanan and Sri K. Hari Shanmuga Priyan of III B.Sc Mathematics won the I and II Prizes in Archery competition conducted by Tamilnadu Olympic Games Association at Mettur on 24.12.2017.
National Service Scheme
- The NSS Units of our college organised the Orientation Programme to the newly enrolled NSS volunteers on 06.07.2017 at GKD Auditorium. Dr. A. Chandramohan, HoD of Chemistry presided over the function and pointed out the importance of NSS Activities. Dr. R. Baskar, NSS Programme Coordinator i/c, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore delivered the inaugural address. Totally, 300 NSS Volunteers participated in the programme.

Our NSS Units organized a Mountain Trekking and Cleaning programme at Palamalai Hills on 29.07.2017. The NSS Volunteers have cleaned the Palamalai Aranganathar Temple premises and removed the plastic bags which created an awareness among the public about the evil effects of plastics.

The NSS Units of our college organised a seminar on “Better Environment for Better Health (SWACHHTHA)” on 09.08.2017 at GKD Auditorium. Sri. M. Jaikumar, Head, Department of BCA (un-aided) explained the present environmental pollution level and its impact on human life along with the possible solutions to reduce the same. A strength of 379 NSS Volunteers attended the awareness programme. The programme ended with a pledge (SWACHHTHA SHAPATH) on cleanliness.

- Fifty of our NSS volunteers of I year Mathematics and Chemistry participated in the Tree Plantation programme and planted 100 saplings in the Post office campus on 13.09.2017 organised by Postal Department, Press Colony, Coimbatore. - Fifty two NSS volunteers attended the Solid Waste Management Training Programme held at CCMC Corporation Yard, Bharathi Park-II, Saibaba Colony on 15.09.2017 organised by E Sree Foundation an NGO associated with ITC limited as part of WOW (Well being Out of Waste) Programme.

- First year NSS volunteers are attending a special camp at T.Duraiswamy Gouder School, Seeliyur from 22.09.2017.
- The NSS Special Camp was conducted at T. Doraisamy Gowder Higher Secondary School, Seeliyur Village, Karamadai Panchayat Union from 23.09.2017 to 29.09.2017 (7 days). The Camp was inaugurated by Swami Shanthimayanantha, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Education. Swami Garishthananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya blessed the participants.Dr. V. Ponnuswamy, Principal, Dr. K. Kandappan, Dean, Students Support Services, Dr. R. Sridhar, Director, Unaided wing and faculty members participated in the Inaugural function. During the camp, awareness programmes on Health and Hygiene, Dengue, Voters’ responsibility, Consumer protection and Solid Waste Management were conducted. Short films related to Environment and Health were displayed. Besides, Eye Camp, Veterinary Camp and Soil & Water testing were conducted for the benefit of the public and farmers.A Soft Skill development programme was conducted for the NSS volunteers to enrich their Communication, Listening, Group behavior and Decision making by Dr. G. Umasankar, Director, Avinashilingam Jan Shikashan Sansthan, Coimbatore on 27.09.2017. A Street Play by Aayutham Kalaikuzhu Coimbatore and Paarambariya Vilaiyaatukkal by Sri. P. Senthilkumar, GAPEY were organised to bring out the tradition of our soil.A Post-consumer waste management training was given to the public by the NSS Volunteers with the support of E Sree Foundation as a part of Well-being Out of Waste (WOW) project in line with the Government’s `Swachh Bharat’ programme to ensure the proper segregation and recycling of waste to protect and restore the environment. The Swachh Bharat activities were carried out and 200 tree saplings were planted in the premises of T. Doraisamy Gowder Higher Secondary School, SC/ST welfare hostel and primary health centre of Seeliyur. The rain water pond of Manal Pudur was renovated and 50 tree saplings were planted on the banks of the pond.
The valedictory function of the camp was conducted on 29.09.2017 in the presence of Sri S. Veerabadran, President, T. Doraisamy Gowder Higher Secondary School. Dr.V.Ponnuswamy, principal delivered valedictory address. Dr.K.Kandappan Dean, Students Support Services delivered the special address. Mrs. Venkata Jayasudha, NSS Officer of the School felicitated the camp participants. Totally, 250 NSS volunteers of all UG programmes (Both aided and un-aided), 23 students of I year MSW along with 5 NSS Programme Officers participated in the camp.

The Youth Red Cross (YRC) unit of our college organized a Blood Donation Camp in collaboration with Shanthi Social Services, Coimbatore on 08.08.2017 at Multipurpose Hall of un-aided wing. Totally, 96 students and 4 faculty members donated 100 units of blood in the camp.
Career Guidance and Placement Cell
- An awareness programme on Defense Service was conducted on 21.08.2017 at Mini Auditorium. Prof. V. Anto, Director and Lt.Esan, Training Commander from the Centre for Career in Uniform Services, Coimbatore delivered talks on “Career Opportunities in Uniform Services” and had interaction with the students. The students of all UG programmes attended the meeting.
- An on-campus placement drive was conducted on 06.09.2017 by IDBI Federal Life Insurance Company Limited, Coimbatore Branch in which 24 students of final year B.Com, B.Com CA and B.Com Cooperation got selected.

- Through the Department of Social Work, two beneficiaries of Sister Nivedita Anna Yojana were treated for their illness with the medical support of Dean Foundation, Karamdai on 05.08.2017.
- The 150th Birth Anniversary Celebrations of Sister Nivedita was organized by the department of Social Work of our College at Near Vinayakar Temple, Govanur Village on 03.09.2017. Sri J. B. Chandrasekar, Assistant Professor of Social Work, welcomed the gathering. Swami Yogamritananda, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, delivered the benedictory and special address on “Life history and contribution of Sister Nivedita to our Society”. Dr. K. Kandappan, Dean, Student Support Services, delivered felicitation address. Sri N. Sakthivel, Assistant Professor of Social Work delivered Vote of thanks. The film show of “Life history of Sister Nivedita” was screened to the public.

- The Department of Social Work of Bharathiar University, Coimbatore has organized Kowsika River Awareness Creation and Cleaning Programme on 12.10.2017 at the River Point near Narasimmanaickenpalayam. Thiru V.C. Arukutty, Member of Legislative Assembly, Kavundampalayam presided over the function. Thiru P.K.Selvaraj, Secretary, Kowsika and Athikkadavu River Protection Committee explained the steps taken so far to protect the river with a historical base. Totally, 250 NSS volunteers and 5 NSS programme officers along with Dr. K. Kandappan, Dean, Students Support Services of our college participated in the programme. Swami Divyaprajnananda, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya and Dr.V.Ponnuswamy, Principal felicitated the gathering. In the programme, NSS volunteers and NSS officers of eight nearby colleges also participated.
- In Commemoration of 150th Birth Anniversary of Sister Nivedita, a free Ortho and General Medical Camp in assistance with BRJ Ortho Centre & MAK Hospital, Coimbatore was conducted at Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Arts and Science Campus on 19.11.2017 (Sunday) between 9.00 am and 2.00 pm. The Camp was inaugurated by Swami Garishthananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya. Dr. B.R.J. Sathishkumar along with his team of 25 members conducted the Camp. Totally, 323 staff members of Vidyalaya were benefited in this camp. During the camp free Blood Pleasure, Blood Sugar and Bone Mineral Densitometry tests were conducted for all the participants. Free Medicines were distributed to needy people.

Students Exchange Programme
- As a part of student exchange programme, Forty two I M.Sc Physics students and two faculty members of PKR College of Arts and Science for Women, Gobichettipalayam visited the Department of Physics of our college on 01.08.2017. During the visit, eight PG experiments were demonstrated by our faculty members with theoretical concepts and experimental results to the students at our PG Physics Laboratory.

As a best practice in Teaching- Learning and Evaluation, the Department of Social Work of our College organized a “Group Conference” for the students of II MSW on 21.07.2017. All the students of II MSW shared their Wednesday and Thursday field work experiences with their classmates and updated the working knowledge of HR and NGos. They had a discussion on the current trends in the field of Social Work.
- The Peer Tutoring method was used as a teaching method in the Department of Chemistry as detailed below:
- An Inter Departmental students’ exchange programme was conducted in the Department of Physics on 26.10.2017 for the I UG students of Chemistry. Dr.M.Sethuraman, Associate Professor of Physics explained the experimental set-up and working procedures of the experiments i) hydrogen spectrum, ii) e/m Thomson’s method and iii) tour probe method.

Kaleeswaran, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, Sri Kaliswari College handled the unit-V entitled Heat Capacity of Solids in the course on “Thermodynamics” for II M.Sc Chemistry students under this programme from 11.09.2017 to 13.09.2017 (3 days).

As a part of Knowledge Exchange Programme Swami Garishthananda, Secretary of our college, Dr. R. Sridhar, Director, Un-aided Wing and Dr. G. Raja, Assistant Professor of Chemistry visited Kamaraj College, Thoothukudi on 09.08.2017. During the visit Dr. G. Raja had an interaction with Dr. G. Vanmathi, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, Kamaraj College, Thoothukudi on “Applications of Flame Plasma Techniques” to prepare a collaborative project proposal to submit for funding to the Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi.
- As a part of Knowledge sharing programme, Dr. S. Durairaj, Principal along with four faculty members from Pioneer Kumaraswamy College, Nagercoil visited our college on 13.12.2017. During the visit the members had discussion with the faculty members and the heads of the department of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science and identified the areas of knowledge & expertise sharing and the possibilities of faculty & student exchange programmes between the institutions.
